“I thought the best part about The Evil Dead (1981) is the creative way they moved the camera and created the gore. Also, the absurd amount of gore was fantastic and sickening.”

“I love The Evil Dead but I hate Ash so much and get angry. I find him incredibly stupid, useless, and annoying.”

My thoughts on Evil Dead
WARNING: THIS MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS. DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT YET SEEN THE EVIL DEAD REMAKE AND ARE PLANNING TO.
Ok so I don’t know about you guys but I absolutely LOVED this remake.
I think the problem with this film however is that a lot of people do not know it is a remake of the 1981 film. The general reactions I am getting from people are one of two:
1. People who have not seen or heard of the original and weren’t to fond of the remake.
2. People who saw the original and loved the remake.
My opinion is that most people who hate it clearly have not seen the originals because if you have seen the originals you know this is exactly how a remake should have been done. They portrayed every scene perfectly, staying true to the original while putting their own modern twist on it. There was a perfect amount of gore and shock factor to it.
The only thing I must admit I did not like is about the female survivor. Now I’m not one to care about the sexism of horror movies to be honest, so the only reason this upset me was because the original Evil Dead is one of the rare horror films that has a male sole survivor. Or maybe the reason I don’t like this is because I’m madly in love with Ash Williams. Sue me.
Also, Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell (who for those of you who do not know are the director and the main character of the 1981 film) produced the remake. If it’s good enough for Bruce and Sam, than it sure as hell is good enough for me.

“The evil dead remake is definitely the movie I’m most excited for in 2013. The trailer looked so damn good, and so brutal and violent. I can’t wait!”

“I feel pregnant every time I look at Bruce Campbell in The Evil Dead Trilogy.”
“I am totally unimpressed with the approach taken for the new Evil Dead movie. I don’t care if it was done by Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell, I think it looks terrible. Those movies should have never been touched.”
“Remaking The Evil Dead, with or without the work of Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell, is the worst idea I’ve ever heard.”
“I seriously have this insane sex dream that Ash Williams (Evil Dead Series) is spanking me while I’m dressed up as “school girl”“
“I saw The Evil Dead at a sleep over when I was six. It terrified me but I couldn’t stop watching it. I saw it so many times as a child.”
“To be completely honest, The Evil Dead was such a disappointment to me. I was literally falling asleep when I saw it, and I fail to see why people seem to love it so much and consider it a cult film.”
“I honestly don’t think Michael, Jason or Freddy would stand a chance against Ash Williams.”
“The Evil Dead was the first horror movie I ever saw when I was 4 and even though it’s never scared me, I have a lot of respect for it because it introduced me to the genre.”
“I am dreading the Evil Dead remake. It will be a trainwreck without Sam Raimi writing the script and Bruce Campbell as Ash. That being said, I will probably still watch it to see how terrible it is.”
